1. What emotional responses does Lauck evoke from the reader with her memoir? How does she achieve this? Give specific examples from the book to illustrate your points.

2. A real life does not have the same arc as a work of fiction: the rises, falls, climaxes, and conclusions don't always conveniently come in the right places. So how does Lauck organize her memoir so as to give it a coherent structure?
